Saturday Lunch Every Saturday, we bring meals to some of the most remote communities in and around Kandy. Many of the people we meet are elderly and live alone, often struggling to prepare a
nutritious meal. These visits are not just about food—they’re about connection, dignity, and care. To sustain this effort, we raise Rs. 30,000 each week (USD 99.71).
Livelihood Project We also help individuals earn a living by offering small start-up funds for home-based skills like sewing. On a recent visit, we met an elderly woman who lives alone and is unable to walk far. She alters clothes for her neighbors, earning around USD 1 a day. We provided her with USD 16 to buy material so she could begin
sewing and selling reusable grocery bags.
For our Wednesday lunch project, we source spices and desserts from local smallholder producers. This not only ensures fresh, high-quality ingredients but also creates
income opportunities for low-income families.
We also run a post-Christmas clothing drive, providing second-hand clothes for the New Year.
Now in its second year, this initiative has met a clear and ongoing need in the communities we serve. For many families, buying new clothes is a luxury they simply cannot afford. The clothing drive gives them dignity, joy, and the chance to start the year afresh with something special to wear.
Donations of clean, gently used clothes are always welcome —
because what may no longer serve you can mean the world to
someone else.
